Municipality of Amsterdam

Cycling is healthy, contributes to cleaner air and a liveable and accessible Amsterdam. Of all means of transport, bicycle usages is growing the most. In order to remain the bicycle city that Amsterdam has been for years, the municipality of Amsterdam is investing in new bicycle connections, bicycle parking solutions and innovation.

Transport Authority Amsterdam (VRA)

The Transport Authority Amsterdam is leading the mobility task in the busiest region of our country. Together with our fifteen municipalities, we ensure that people can travel comfortably, quickly and sustainably, in whatever way. In this way we contribute to an accessible and vital region that is constantly on the move.

In addition to our role as client of public transport in the region, we also invest in measures to stimulate bicycle use. For example, we are working on a network of high-quality, fast cycling routes. In order to stimulate the strong combination of bicycle and public transport, we also play an active role in the construction of bicycle parking facilities at stations. Because now almost half of all train travelers come to the station by bicycle.
