Cycle route van Dam tot Dam
In the coming decades, Amsterdam and Zaandam will be merging. Amsterdam’s new neighbourhood, Haven-Stad, as well as the transformed Achtersluispolder situated in Zaandam have roles to play in supporting this merge. Bicycle route form one of the main elements of the anticipated merge. The beautiful Noorder IJ-plas, the green heart between the new construction plans, is an ideal place for cycle routes.

A fast cycle route was established at the lake’s northern extents several years ago. In recent years, plans have been put together for a more recreational trail along the lake’s southern extents and the North Sea Canal. In addition to the recreational trail, a new bridge across side-channel H to the Achtersluispolder would be provided.
