Bike parks come, … and go

Amsterdam is working hard on new underground bike parks. And under water as well! Below some examples. And a few remarkable ones that have gone.

Last week alderman for mobility Egbert de Vries drove the first pole for the new bike park in the water of river IJ, just north of central station. It will host 4000 new bicycle places and above it will come the new IJ-boulevard.

On the Centrum side of the station work on the bike park Entrée is in full swing. Place for 7000 bicycles under the water of Open Havenfront.

At Leidseplein a new underground bike park just opened.

While new bike parks come, two remarkable older ones go. The bike parking ferry at central station in river IJ had to make place for the work on the new parking of IJ-boulevard.

The underground bike park next to pop temple Paradiso is closed when Leidseplein stalling opened close by. The rather steep stairs here had interesting equipment. Brushes along the downward gutter. And a bike conveyer belt to help going up.
